Jennifer Beving, Deputy Director of Americans for Prosperity SD, discusses school choice, Economic Development, Property Taxes and lobbying for taxpayers with Dave Roetman
None of the data provided by the person being interviewed is correct or backed up by any relevant sources. South Dakota’s ACT scores are well ahead of Florida and Texas, the person interviewed said South Dakota is in the bottom of the nation and Florida and Texas are leading the nation. What test scores is she referring to. Typically your kids who have aspirations of college take the ACT test. South Dakota led the nation last year in states where there was over 30 percent participation rate. South Dakota’s participation rate was 58 percent with an average score of 21.1. Florida’s participation rate was 44 percent with an average score of 19. Texas participation rate was 22 percent with an average score of 19.4. Her State Budget numbers are incorrect as well as the phrase that ½ of the State Teachers are foreigners. Looking forward to another session of made up numbers to push an unconstitutional scam.
My kids go to Public School. What is a Government School as the interviewed individual speaks about? Are they charter schools of some sort? Are they schools that accept public dollars? Will homeschoolers who accept public dollars now be called Government Home Schools? How does the interviewed individual respond to the fact that her plan has been ruled unconstitutional in other states, including our neighbor to the west who is tied up in lawsuits right now on school vouchers? Will the Legislature try and change our state constitution as it relates to public dollars for education to get these vouchers through?
